Reasons to Celebrate

Writing is a lonely business, the mere fact that you spend so much of your time in your own fictional world typing at a keyboard ensures that you are mostly a party of one!

The worst part of writing, for me at least, is the promo! I was brought up to believe that no one likes a show-off and, if someone gives me a compliment, I find it easier to laugh and shake my head, insisting they must be wrong. So, this promotional side of publishing my books is always done with a slightly embarrassed feeling, compounded by the occasional family member glazing over if another one asks the question, 'So, how is your writing coming along then?'

That said, most people are hugely supportive, both friends, family, and people you meet and get to know over the social network, so that when there is something to celebrate they are happy for you and share your news. Even if this news is waking to discover that your book has magically appeared at #31 in the Amazon.co.uk Love & Romance Chart like I did yesterday, it's something you feel the need to share. *whispers* It rose to #24, but has since dipped to #39 - numbers matter. x
